Yes, it works. I just converted Star Wars IV with the Apple TV preset & copied the result to my iphone GS. No complaints from itunes & it played perfectly (I double checked the settings: loose anamorphic, 8x8 dct & 3 bframes). I turned off large file size & bumped subq to 8, otherwise it was the stock preset. The encode was only 900kb/s but the quality on both my monitor & the iphone was amazing."

Other posts go even further, it seems that the iPhone3GS can decode every H.264 flick at 25 fps as long as the max resolution of 720 x 576 is not exceeded. And iTunes 9 will sync the flick to the iPhone without issues. Amazing really, from a cell phone.

VOiPover3G - Hack Allows iPhone Users to Make VOiP Calls over 3G/EDGE/GPRS - iPhone Hacks

Begränsningen i iPhones kommunikationsmöjligheter tycks ligga i programvaruutvecklingsverktyget iPhone SDK, enligt följande inlägg den 25 januari 2009 på bloggen www.iphonehacks.com.

VOiPover3G - Hack Allows iPhone Users to Make VOiP Calls over 3G/EDGE/GPRS - iPhone Hacks
One of the limitations of VOiP iPhone apps such as Fring and Truphone that are available on the App Store is that you can make VOiP calls only over Wi-Fi and not over the your iPhone's data connection. This is due to limitation of Apple's iPhone SDK which was most likely enforced on Apple by carriers.
"

Nu har dock "carriern" AT & T klivit av bromsen. Det har dock inte förmått utvecklaren Apple att släppa bromsen ännu, framgår det av följande blogginlägg:

"Apple Still Not Allowing VoIP Calls Over 3G
By Om Malik November 8, 2009

Earlier today in response to my post about Nimbuzz, a good pal emailed to find out why the service didn't work over the iPhone's 3G connection. After all, a few weeks ago AT&T announced support for VoIP over 3G with much fanfare, a move that was widely applauded, including kudos from FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski.

A month has passed since the decision was announced, and there is still no support for VoIP over 3G. "Apple actually did not approve the 3G calling — so they completely broke their promise of allowing VoIP calls on 3G," a Nimbuzz spokesperson said.

Even Skype doesn't work over 3G. Truphone is not working either, much like Fring. I am not sure if these services work over 3G data connections in Europe and other parts of the world, but it looks like Apple is the one putting in the roadblock here."

I can confirm that the latest Nimbuzz, updated from the App Store today, does not allow you to use 3G data connection at all, not even for the limited chat function.

Re: REPORT - Enosoft DV Processor 1.5.0

Hello, John, and thanks for taking your time.

In the meantime I have resolved the issue, which was with my XPconfiguration. Enosoft DV works fine now. Possibly, my findings may be of use to other not so competent users, so here it goes. Sorry for being lengthy.

As I indicated, I'm a first time user and have been using PPro with a Canopus capture card for some years. Now I wanted to convert a 13 GB DV-AVI file from PPro to AVC in Matroska by using Handbrake (Pre4). I thought the DV-AVI file was useless outside of PPro, and wanted Enosoft DV to convert to an intermediate DV file before Handbrake. I had previously done so using MPEG Streamclip.

Enosoft accepted the DV-AVI, but did not monitor it at all. Further processing was impossible. So I asked for this error report to be produced, and the error report production crashed the app after the email had been produced in Outlook (or Express, which I normally don't use either) but before it was sent. I managed to manually send the email to you after recovery from the crash.

I did manage to convert to DVI by using MPEG Streamclip, which is QuickTime-based. No problem here with monitoring or conversion. I tried another app by M. Paul Glagla (http://paul.glagla.free.fr/index_en.htm), DVdate 7.0.9, which simply reported that the file was not found, even after having used the File Open dialogue of the app; suspicious. Another app by M Glagla put me on the right track; ImageGrab 4.2.0. This app reported that my system was using DirectX 9 ("9 f" I believe) but had problems that some DX filters contained in quartz.dll (i e AVI splitter) were missing from my system. Bill would not let me reinstall DirectX, so I looked for an already installed tool which came with K-Lite Codec Pack a long time ago, Tweak Tool. This tool fixed DirectX/quartz.dll and removed some traces of older divx installations as a bonus. No idea why quartz.dll had been uninstalled though. Spybot S & D? Just guessing.

Now every app that relies on DX (Enosoft DV, DVdate and ImageGrab) are functional. Yours looks like a very useful app for DV editors and not too complicated for the casual user. Thank you, again.

Regards,

Mikael N

Adobe Forums - Extract XMP sidecar files together with originals

Adobe Forums - Extract XMP sidecar files together with originals: "To extract XMP from an arbitrary file and write it to a .xmp file, a command as simple as:

exiftool -xmp -b image.jpg > image.xmp

The tool also works recursively against directories, though I'm not certain if with this simplest of commands it'd put the .xmp files in the right place (I believe it'll put it in your current working directory) so a few more lines of script may be needed to make sure they all go back to their desired locations."
